This program is powered by our WHO certified research center, Center of Research and development (CRD), and by the end of the program our students will receive two certificates, One from the CRD (WHO certificate) and the other by SCMSA. 

     ——What is our program?

SCMSA Research School on tropical medicine offers its participants a professional certified Scientific program that has proved its worth and efficiency for more than 20 years. This Program gives them a chance to attend classes for case discussions, Pre-clinical sessions as well as role play tutorials to prepare for hands-on examinations, together with lectures covering proper approach to selected department topics given by pioneers of Medicine All over Egypt. Program will take place in Suez Canal University Teaching hospital which has many departments like (Tropical, Chest and Cardio) so that Participants are exposed to as many different cases & findings as possible. Multiple Small working groups will be formed to attend rotations between a hospital for most efficient use of time and place and the hospital visit will consist of:

1. Research basics:

A group of sessions which covers the basics of research that includes goal and aim of research, basic methodology, data collection, study designs, sampling methods, protocol, literature review, critical appraisal and scientific outcomes

2. Pre-Clinical session & role play:

In this session, the whole group will sit to discuss their previous knowledge about a certain topic. The Hospital coordinator will then give them a short guide about the clinical presentations and required examination for that topic. Then, the whole group will practice History taking or Examination in a role play with a tutor so that they prepare for the bedside session with the patient.

3. Bedside session:

The group will be subdivided into smaller groups, They will take history and perform general and relevant local examinations under the guidance of the tutor (and as  explained to them during the previous session and role play). The group will then discuss the differential diagnosis and provisional diagnosis of the case.

4. Problem-Based Course:

Summer School Scientific course uses Problem-Based learning or PBL as a main method of learning. PBL is a Student-Centered leaning strategy, that has the advantage of stimulating previous knowledge and active participation of the students in the learning process, hence develop students’ problem-solving skills, self-learning abilities, organized logic thinking, critical appraisal as well as self-evaluation, peer evaluation & teamwork.

5. Hands on experience: 

our scientific program includes hands on experience on biological methods and running clinical investigations.
